Auction Rules

1. Nominate a player by submitting the form linked here. In your submission, you must include the player's name, team, and a link to his Baseball-Reference page (if available) -- so that we're certain that we are posting the correct player -- as well as your contact information. Please resubmit the form for each additional player you are adding to the auction; if you lump multiple players into the same submission, only the first player listed will be added to the auction. The deadline to add players to the auction is 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, February 19th.

2. Bid on player by clicking on player name and then placing a bid in the comments section using bonus dollars. Remember to monitor your available cash reserves, as seen in the NPL roster file, and remember that bonuses for the First-Year Player Draft also come out of this, so you will need to budget for those, as well.

Bids must be made in at least $1,000 increments up to $10,000, and then 10% increments from that point and higher. In other words, if the current high bid on an international free agent is $250,000, your bid must be AT LEAST $275,000.

3. SIGNING DEADLINES - Bid activation occurs at the first bid timestamp. The initial bidding period is 72 hoursfrom the first bid. A subsequent bid will extend the current deadline by 48 hours, once the initial 72-hour period has passed. For example, if the initial bid is the only bid, a player whose bidding starts at 11:00 a.m. on Monday will sign at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday; however, a subsequent bid at or before 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday will not extend the bidding window since it will satisfy both the 72-hour starting period and the 48-hour extension. So that there is no confusion, all timestamps on the blog are based on Eastern Time.

Finally, Saturdays and Sundays COUNT in the time period, but players CANNOT be signed on Saturday or Sunday. In other words, if a player's signing time is 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, but a bid is placed between that time and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, the auction will continue and the new signing time is 48 hours forward from that bid. However, if there are no bids on Saturday or Sunday, a player who would expire at any time between 12:00 a.m. on Saturday and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday will sign at 12:00 a.m. ET on Monday.

***NOTE THAT THE SIGNING PERIOD HAS CHANGED TO 24 HOURS, BUT THE 72-HOUR INITIAL BIDDING PERIOD AND NO-WEEKEND-EXPIRATIONS RULES REMAIN IN EFFECT***

4. Notify DJ Goldberg and Daniel Rathman at the email listed above when you think you have signed a player to complete the transaction.

If you need to promote someone out of the DSL to make room for your new signee, please communicate that to the email listed above as well as the NPL Transactions email.

5. All bids/comments are irrevocable. Even though the website gives you the ability to remove your comment, there is also a running log of every bid made that will be tracked.

6. Contact DJ Goldberg and Daniel Rathman via email for any questions.
